The PTFA supports the school and students in numerous activities and events throughout the school year.
The Parent Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) has a tradition of a strong presence since its inception at BIS. This has been very successful raising funds for the students. One of our main aims is fundraising to help assist the most number of students over the longest period of time. We aim to raise funds to purchase items that fall outside the normal scope of school funding. We also bring the community together with social events and activities. Also, we give back to the community by donating 12.5% of all funds raised to our chosen charities.
Our main fundraising event is the annual School Fair which we generally hold in October or November. Our fair always is a success thanks to the combined effort of the vendors, parents, staff, students and, of course, all our volunteers on the day.
Over the year, the PTFA have purchased numerous items for the school that have assisted the music, science, P.E., library and general classroom departments. This shows how the PTFA has been able to assist the whole school and all the programs at some time.
The PTFA frequently hosts our ‘famous’ sausage sizzles, where we sell hot dogs. We hold these throughout the school year and at all sports carnivals held at the school. A lot of our funds are raised through these and without the tireless work of the school parents who volunteer their time these would not be such a success.
Other events the PTFA have participated in include the Teacher Appreciation lunch which is a success due to the contribution of food from parents. We also hold many bake sales after share times, monthly HOS coffee mornings, monthly PTFA meetings and many other activities.
The success of the PTFA is due to all our wonderful parents at BIS. Without them none of the above would be possible. The PTFA thanks all the teachers, students, administration, cleaning and grounds staff, security, parents and our BIS friends for all their support and assistance we continually receive.
