Enhancing Learning Through Technology

At Bali Island School, we believe that technology is a key component of modern education. We are dedicated to integrating digital tools to create a more relevant and engaging learning experience, preparing our students for a future driven by innovation.

Our approach is centered on using technology to facilitate active, student-centered learning. We recognize that every student has a unique learning style, and technology allows for differentiated instruction that meets a wide range of needs. We believe that technology skills are best learned when applied in real-world contexts, and our curriculum ensures that students use these tools to deepen their understanding of core subjects.

To support this vision, Bali Island School provides a comprehensive technology infrastructure. Our campus features a state-of-the-art wireless network that enables learning anytime, anywhere. All teachers are equipped with a MacBook Air M1 Laptop to support their instructional needs. Most classrooms feature modern 65-inch Samsung TVs and use Apple TV technology for seamless wireless presentations. We are also piloting an innovative program in Preschool, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 with interactive Epson projectors to enhance early years education.

Our human resources team is dedicated to supporting this technological ecosystem:

  • IT Coordinator: This role oversees our entire infrastructure, providing support and professional development for both teachers and students.
  • Two IT Support Specialists: These specialists are responsible for maintaining our hardware and software, ensuring a seamless digital experience.
  • School Database Administrator: This individual manages Toddle and other associated systems, which are crucial for curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting.
  • Graphic Designer: Our designer supports the administrative team, teachers, and students with all their graphic design needs.

Primary School Technology

In the Primary School, we use a balanced approach to technology integration. In Preschool, Kindergarten, and Grade 1, we provide iPads for classroom use. In Grades 3 through 5, we have a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program, allowing students to bring a personal device to support their learning.

In the upper Primary grades, students actively use Google Workspace for Education, building foundational skills in collaboration and productivity.

Secondary School Technology

The Secondary School operates on a 1:1 Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) program. All students in Grades 6 to 12 are required to bring a laptop to school every day. This initiative provides students and teachers with constant access to global resources, fostering opportunities for communication, creation, and collaboration that were previously impossible. The BYOD program helps students develop essential 21st-century work habits and research skills.

Beyond the standard Google Workspace for Education, Secondary students also use Toddle. As our primary curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting system, Toddle fully supports the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes. Students can access detailed information on their subjects, including unit plans, assessment rubrics, calendars, and results, providing a centralized platform for their academic journey.

Plagiarism and Academic Integrity

At Bali Island School, we are deeply committed to upholding the principles of academic honesty. To support this, we use Turnitin, a service that performs text-matching to help teachers identify any significant overlap between student work and other sources. While not a definitive indicator of dishonesty, it serves as a valuable tool for ensuring that a student’s work truly reflects their own learning.

All students in Grades 3 through 12 and their families agree to our BIS Student Acceptable Use Agreement. This agreement outlines our expectations for online safety, trust, and honesty, promoting responsible and community-appropriate use of technology and the internet.
