Your Pathway to University Success
On 29 September 2025, Bali Island School hosted its annual University Fair, attended by 36 university representatives from nine countries.

This event is organised annually in accordance with BIS’s approach to university applications, focusing on matching students with suitable institutions. This year, the participating universities reflected students’ diverse interests, from business to performing arts, including IE University—ranked top in Spain and fifth worldwide for Business Administration—the NABA art and design academy in Italy, and the University of Western Australia, part of the Group of Eight, specialising in STEM programmes.

The day commenced with presentations for students and parents on topics including writing personal statements, studying abroad, and various university programmes.
Here are some conversations we had with our Grade 9 & 11 students and College Counselor:

Filip & Finley (Grade 9 students)
In your opinion, why is attending a university fair important when preparing for your tertiary education?
Filip:
Attending a university fair is very important because it allows you to explore different institutions, compare programmes, ask questions directly to representatives, and make more informed decisions about your future studies.
Nina:
I am very grateful to BIS for organising such a fair, which provides a rare opportunity to learn about a wide range of universities from different continents—access that would otherwise be difficult. Meeting representatives in person, rather than just browsing university websites, enables us to ask personalised questions and gather information that may not be available online, such as application tips or the qualities the university values most in a candidate.

Nina (Grade 11)
How can the BIS University Fair help you learn more about the programmes and opportunities offered by different universities?
Finley:
The BIS University Fair allows us to explore programmes and opportunities from various universities around the world. We can ask questions directly and receive detailed explanations about courses, scholarships, and recognition, which makes it easier to identify the best university for our future. Many universities also provide their contact details, so we can arrange visits or attend open days.
Nina:
By speaking directly with university representatives, we gain a firsthand understanding of each institution’s culture and specific programmes. This helps us determine whether their offerings align with our academic interests.

Yohana (College Counselor)
“Since launching the first university fair in 2017 in collaboration with Green School Bali, Canggu Community School, ProEd, and Dyatmika, this year marks the ninth consecutive event. We are pleased with the positive feedback from parents and students. University fairs offer students a valuable opportunity to explore academic and career options through direct contact with university representatives. They gain insights into various local and international institutions, programmes, and admission requirements.” BIS College Counselor Yohana Kurniasari added.
