BIS Students Planted Coral Fragments on Racks

“As Head of School at Bali Island School, I am incredibly proud of our IBDP students for consistently outperforming the IBDP world average scores over numerous years. This remarkable achievement is a testament to our school community’s dedication, hard work, and excellence. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our staff and faculty for their invaluable contributions in making this success possible.” said Mr. Mike Miller, BIS Head of School.

To end the Academic Year 2023-2024, our Middle Years Programme students from grades 6-10 have participated in student-led projects as part of the Service as Action (SaA) subject. These projects impact the local community and the environment, highlighting our commitment to creating positive change and sustainability. Some of the projects included:

  • 15 students planted five coral fragments on racks in a protected area with the help of professional divers from the Livingseas Foundation, focusing on the Life below Water (UN SDG #14)
  • In collaboration with Villa Kitty, students contributed to sterilizing more than 45 stray cats in Gianyar, embracing the commitment of UNSDG #15 (Life on Land)
  • Our students provided 25 English lessons for local students in two public schools in Sanur and donated 50 books, including English dictionaries, to enhance English language skills in the community.

The IB DP results and innovative student-led sustainability projects underline our commitment to providing a world-class education and aim to be the top choice for international families in Indonesia. BIS is proud to lead the way among IB continuum schools in Indonesia and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates from our community!
