2024 Achievements and Community Impacts at Bali Island School

Bali Island School proudly concludes 2024 with outstanding academic and competitive achievements. This impressive list of accomplishments showcases the dedication and hard work of our students as well as faculty members, positioning us for an even more successful 2025.

BALI MATH COMPETITION (BMC)

Our Bali Dragons excelled at the Bali Math Competition, with achievements as follows:

    • Junior Individual: Kai won the 2nd place 
    • Senior Individual: Kana won the 1st place, Siwoo got the 2nd and, Seoyeon the 3rd place
  • Team Competitions: Our “Plus Alpha Team” (Kana, Youngmin, and Seoyeon) won first place, and the “Pi-Rates Team” (Ellery, Amerie, and Ahyun) took third place. 

 

SOUTH EAST ASIAN MATHEMATICS OLYMPICS (SEAMO)

Bali Dragons also won Bronze Medals at the Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad. Congratulations to Hari from Grade 5 and James Santoso from Grade 6.

WORLD SCHOLARS CUP

In June, BIS triumphed in the Bali World Scholars Cup regional competition.

Competing with 13 schools and over 150 participants, BIS emerged victorious, securing the top team positions in both the Senior and Junior divisions.

Junior Division Achievements

  • Kolbi received 1st place in the Champion Scholar for Jac Khor Award in the Individual Challenge and Debate Championships.
  • Our Debate Team; Lilly, Kolbi, and Mandalay received 1st Place in Team Debate and Team Challenge.

Senior Division Achievements

  • Kiva received 1st place for Champion Scholar and Jac Khor Award Individual Challenge
  • Seo-Yeon, Kiva, and James won 1st place in the Team Challenge and Team Bowl

BAHASA INDONESIA COMPETITION

Congratulations to Lael who received 3rd place in the Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA) Quiz Competition. His enthusiasm for learning Bahasa Indonesia has been truly inspiring. 

SPORTS

From Bali Schools Sports Association to the Indonesian International Small School Activity Conference, JIS Swimvitational, and Maybank Marathon Bali, BIS Dragons celebrates victories. From basketball and volleyball to swimming and running, our BIS Dragons continue to showcase the #BestofBothWorlds!

Basketball (February 2024)

  • IISSAC: 2nd place
  • BSSA Senior Girls A Team: 2nd place, and 
  • BSSA Senior Girls B Team: Champions

Swimming  (April 2024)

  • BSSA Junior Girls: A Team Champions
  • BSSA Junior Girls B Team: Champions

Running  (September 2024)

  • Shawn (Grade 5): 1st place in the 400 m Kids Dash Maybank Marathon Bali

Volleyball (November 2024)

  • BIS Girl A Team Champions

Swimvitational at JIS (December 2024)

  • Lova (1st) 25-meter backstroke for girls
  • Davison (1st) 50-meter backstroke for boys
  • Mia (1st) 50-meter backstroke for girls

BIS also continues to be dedicated to service and sustainability throughout 2024 with the following initiatives throughout the 2024:

  1. Held a coaching clinic by collaborating with a high-caliber national coach, Agung Gantar, to over 40 young athletes in Buleleng
  2. 15 students planted five coral fragments on racks in a protected area with the help of professional divers from the Livingseas Foundation. This initiative focuses on the Life below Water (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #14)
  3. In collaboration with Villa Kitty, our students contributed to sterilizing more than 45 stray cats in Gianyar, embracing the commitment of UNSDG #15 (Life on Land)
  4. Students from Taman Bacaan provided 25 English lessons for local students in two public schools in Sanur and donated 50 books, including English dictionaries.
  5. 18 BIS UNSDG Heroes shared knowledge about the UN SDGs with 50 local students across Gianyar at the Maybank Marathon Bali Sustainability Pavilion
  6. BIS also hosted a workshop in partnership with Maggi Farm for environmental sustainability awareness to our 33 Grade 5 students
